Glossy Text EffectThis time I will show you to create a simple glossy text effect using Photoshop. You can apply this effect to any text. Great effect for your brand, logo, blog title, or any other purpose. Enough the talking, here's how to do it.

1. Start by creating a simple text with height 120 px. Use any font type and background color you want. Right click text layer and choose Rasterize Type.

Ctrl+click at text layer icon to load text selection.

2.Fill the selection will gradient color. Change background to grey and foreground to white. Using Gradient tool, hold Shift, click and drag from top to bottom. You will get black and white gradient color.

3. Next, I will add a stroke around the text. Don't deselect anything. From Top menu choose Edit>Stroke. Use Width=1, dark grey color, and Location=Outside.

After that, decrease the selection. From top menu Select>Modify>Contract. Use Contract By 2 pixels.

4. Now, change the text color. Apply Gradient tool with foreground=white, background=orange.

When finished, save the selection. From top menu Select>Save Selection. Name this selection "text".

5. Next, adding some highlight on top of text. Make new layer. Use Lasso Tool to create selection on top of text. Look at image below.

6. Fill the selection with gradient color just like before.

7. Press Ctrl+D to deselect the selection. Load the text selection. Select>Load Selection. Choose "text" from Channel drop down. Press Ctrl+I to invert the selection. Then press Delete in keyboard. Gradient clor outside the text will be deleted.

Next, change blending mode to Screen and Opacity 50%. The highlight looks brighter now.

8. Here I add some more detail. Create new layer. Load "text" selection again (Select>Load Selection). Stroke the selection (Edit>Stroke) using Width=1px and Color=dark orange..

9. Final touch, double click glossy (text) layer. In opened dialog box, activate Drop Shadow. Use Opacity=30, Spread=10 and Size=20. You'll get soft shadows around the text.

10. Image below shows finished result..
