This tutorial needs you to understand basic use of Adobe Photoshop. You must have followed last tutorial, Mosaic Effect.
In last tutorial, you created a mosaic effect using a lot of the same image. Now, we will extend this effect using not only one, but several small images. Your mosaic effect image will be much cooler.
1. Open any image you like. In this example, I use square image and resize to 20x20. Go to Edit>Define Pattern. Name your pattern.

2. Open you last mosaic effect tutorial exercise. Create new layer, above black and white mosaic layer. Go to Edit>Fill. Choose your newly created pattern to fill in. Go to Image>Adjustment> Desaturate. Your image will turn black and white.

3. In Layer Palette reduce its Opacity to 50%. Next, make sure your new layer selected. Click Add Layer Mask button. Make sure your Foreground Color is Black and Background Color is White. Go to Filter>Render>Clouds to fill layer mask with random cloud pattern.

4. Go to Filter>Pixelate>Mosaic. Use Cell Size=20. Next, go to Image>Adjustment>Threshold. Now, cloud pattern in layer mask will be black and white only. With Layer Mask, only part of mosaic pattern visible. White area in Layer Mask reveals the pattern, and black area is opposite.

5. Try to repeat the above steps to add more layers, with different image and different cloud patterns like image below. More layers added means more cooler result.

6. This is an example of finished image below using only 2 layers of pattern. I change the most top layer Blending Mode to Overlay
