If you are unfamiliar wth Particle Flow, please read our previous tutorial Getting Started with Particle Flow

ext Dispersion Effect Using Particle FlowThis tutorial will show you how to create text dispersion effects. You will make letters in some paragraph one by one slowly lifted and spinning, then those letters will go off of the screen. I believe you can also create the same effect using After Effects. But, today I will use 3dsmax. It's also fun to create this effect in 3dsmax. Of course, you will use Particle Flow to create this effect.

1. In first section of this tutorial, you need to prepare some letters first. Reset your 3dsmax. Go to Create>Shapes tab. Click Text button. Create any text you want in Top Viewport. This effect is cool when using long paragraph with a lot of text. For example I use a portion of song's lyric. Gone with the wind, perfomed by Frank Sinatra.

2.When finished, go to Modify tab. Choose Extrude from modifier list, so you'll have solid text. In this tutorial I don't use any extrude amount. You can apply any number you want. But for this example I use Extrude Amount=0.

3. Right click text object, and choose Convert to>Convert to Editable Poly. In Modify tab, activate Element selection. Using this selection, you can select each letter and punctuation. Select one letter or punctuation, and in Edit Geometry rollout, click Detach button. When a small dialog box open, just click. You've made this letter into separate single object.

4. Repeat above process to all letters and punctuation. Don't detach the last letter, just de-activate selection. I know, this is a long and boring task, but you need to do that. If you don't interested with this boring task, you can download 3dsmax provided in link below.

When finished, select all letter objects, and group them (Group>Group). I name this group object as "text". Next, we are going to use particle.
