Push-Up Animation Using BipedIn Part 1 tutorial, we have prepared the biped. Now that we have posed the biped into position, lets start off with animation.

1. Here's our posed biped:

Try moving Biped down using Body Vertical. Hands and legs bipeds are penetrating the plane.Undo(Ctrl+Z) the change. If we would have to fix this manually, this would have taken a lot of time to complete the animation. Tthankfully, 3ds max provides an excellent tool to handle this kind of things.

2. Select one of the hand of the biped and in the Key Info roll out click Set Planted key. Repeat this step with other hand and both the foots. Note: Be sure that you select Foots And Hands only, not the calfs, thighs, upperArms ornd foreArms. Or you will get unexpected results.

Now try moving biped Using Body Vertical. Biped successfully goes down.Undo the change(Ctrl+Z)

3. Make sure time slider is at frame 0,select body vertical then on Key Info Rolout click Set Key. This is just a preventive measure to ensure that everything happens as we want it to be.

4. Turn on Auto Key and move the time slider to frame 10. Using Body Vertical move the biped down slowly until biped acquires its extreme position.

5. Click on the key at frame 0. The key (small rectangle) turns white which symbolises that key has been selected. Now, hold SHIFT Key, click and drag that key to frame 20.
Key pasted on frame 20, copied from frame 0.

6. By repeating the step 5 we can get a complete push-up animation. Here how you need to Copy-Paste the keys.

From To
Frame 10 Frame 30
Frame 0 Frame 40
Frame 10 Frame 50
Frame 0 Frame 60
Frame 10 Frame 70
Frame 0 Frame 80
Frame 10 Frame 90
Frame 0 Frame 100

8. Now, move the Time slider back to to frame 0. In the animation playback controls and Click Play Animation. And Viola! You have your biped do pushups, although his muscles do not develop. Afterall he's just a skeleton, but still you have your biped do pushups.

Download finished 3ds max file and compare your result (3ds max 9)
