Modeling Screwdriver Using LoftingIn Basic Lofting tutorial you've created a simple frame using Lofting. This tutorial will enhance your knowledge about lofting. You will create screwdriver using lofting. If you model screwdriver using Editable Poly, you will need extra time and effort. But, using Lofting, it's just a piece of cake. Also you can create within minutes.

 

1. Open 3ds max. In Command Panel go to Create>Shapes>Splines. Click Star button. Click and drag in Front viewport to create star object. Use values like in image below.

 

2. Next, in Front viewport, create several shape, 2 circles and 1 rectangle. Use values like image below.

 

3. Then create a line. Make sure it is long enough, the same as the length of screwdriver.

 

4. Select circle with radius=50. In Command Panel go to Create>Geometry. From drop-down list choose Compound Objects. Click Loft button.

In Creation Method rollout, click Get Path button and click line in viewport. Voila! You have long tube. Next, we will modify this tube.
