This tutorial needs you to understand basic use of 3dsmax.

Modeling Iron Man HeadIron Man (Anthony "Tony" Edward Stark) is a comic book superhero from Marvel Comics. In 2008, this character bring to life in Iron Man Movie (2008) by Paramount Pictures and Marvel Entertainment. Based on that movie, I have this idea, writing tutorial about modeling Iron Man in 3dsmax. So, this is tutorial for you, Modeling Iron Man Head. Note: This is not very detailed tutorial, because of complexity of this tutorial. But, I try to make all steps clear. If you have followed all my previous tutorial, I am sure you can follow this tutorial easily.

This is what you are going to create:

1. First, we need a blueprint. I looked everywhere on the net, but unfortunately images below is the best that I get. Front face image is relatively easy to find. But, the head side image is not. I had to modify and draw myself. So, you'll find head side image kinda blurry. Right click both images below and save to your harddisk. You're gonna need them to texture the blueprint.

Using that image, I created blueprint like image below. How to create blueprint like this, read previous tutorial Modeling Using Blueprint
You can download 3dsmax file with this blueprint here.

2. In Front viewport, create plane with 6 x 11 segments. Place this plane in the middle of blueprint. Convert to Editable Poly. Select half of polygons, and delete them. De-activate all sub-object selections and apply Symmetry modifier. From, now on you are only need to create half head. The other half will be mirrored by Symmetry modifier. Apply material to this plane. I use simple green color and decrease its Opacity value to 50%. So I can see blueprint behind.

3. In Modifier Stack, click plus (+) sign left of Editable Poly and activate Vertex selection. In Front viewport, move each vertex to match the background. I have provided front image with guideline. So, I am sure you'll find no problem here.

4. In Right viewport, move vertices one by one to match blueprint. Note: you just need to follow image below.

5. When finished, you'll have a part of face like image below.
