1. In this tutorial I will show you how to stop pendulum animation. First, you need to have wall pendulum clock 3D model (3DS).
2. After you import this model, create pendulum animation. I won't explain how to create this animation. I already explained this on Repetitive Animation tutorial. Basically you need to create two rotation keys and apply Parameter Curve Out-of-Range (Ping-Pong type).
3. Image below shows animation graph for pendulum animation.
4. Now, we will stop pendulum animation. Unfortunately, there's no quick solution to do this. We need to convert animation created using Parameter Curve Out-of-Range into editable keys. Click Utilities>Track View Utilities. Highlight Create Out-of-Range Keys, and click OK Small dialog box will open. Use Before=100, After=10 and Samples=2. Click Apply button 5 times. Before and After determine location where you want to create additioanl keys. Meanwhile, Samples determine how many keys will be created each time/segment Using Move Keys tool, select three last keys and delete them (press Delete in keyboard). As result, in last keys pendulum will be positioned at center .
5. Final step, we need to change Parameter Curve Out-of-Range Types. Click Param Curve Out-of-Range button. In opened dialog box, click Constant, and click OK. Play the animation. You will see pendulum stop. Not just stopping, you can also add keys, modify movement etc, because you have editable keys now
