Gundam RX-78-2 Modeling: RifleThis is final tutorial about creating Beam Rifle used by Gundam RX-78-2.

1. Create cylinder in Front viewport and position like image below. Use parameters below. Convert cylinder into Editable Poly. (1) In Front viewport, select all vertices in bottom area. (2) Move these selected vertices down. (3) In Left viewport, widen the distance between middle vertices.

2. (1) Select several polygons in the middle top area. (2) Extrude inward. (3) Adjust polygons shape using Select and Uniform Scale Tool along X and Y axis. Simply dragging in one axis once at a time..

3. Create 2 Chamfer Cylinder in Front viewport. Chamfer Cylinder can be found in Extended Primitives drop down list. Use parameters below. Position these Chamfer cylinders like image below, one is above the other. Convert top Chamfer Cylinder into Editable Poly. In Left viewport, move vertices position until they are exactly above Chamfer Cylinder below.

4. Turn off all sub-object selection. In Edit Geometry rollout, click Attach button and click another Chamfer Cylinder to combine them. Activate Polygon selection, select 2 polygons, facing vertical to each other. Then in Edit Polygons rollout, click Bridge button. Those Chamfter Cylinders will be connected.

5. Another detail is created using cylinder like image below. After you create 3 segments cylinder, convert into Editable Poly. Modify vertices position. Use Select and Uniform Scale Tool to resize ring of polygons or vertices.

6. Another detail. Just modify vertices position and use Select and Uniform Scale tool to resize ring of vertices.

7. Activate Polygon selection. Select and delete cap polygon in cylinder object. Also delete 2 polygons near the tip of cylinder. Image below shows where exactly selected polygons I mentioned about. When finished, turn off all sub-object selection. Apply Shell modifier with Inner amount=1 and Outer amount=0. Your cylinder will have thickness..

8. Use the same procedure like above to add another detail using 4 segments cylinder.

9. Let's add another detail in the middle of rifle. Create cylinder. Make sure it's radius is lower than 5. Position this cylinder like image below. (1) Convert into Editable Poly. Delete cap polygons. (2) Select bottom polygons and delete them. (3) Change to Vertex selection. Select most bottom vertices. Move them down. (5) In Left viewport, move vertices in left and right side until you get shape like image below.

10. Just add cylinder to fill the hole in the middle of rifle.

11. Final task, select one rifle object part. Make sure it is in Editable Poly. In Edit Geometry rollout, click Attach button, and click another object in viewport to combine all into one rifle object. Congratulations, you have finished Rifle modeling tutorial.
