Adding Sound in 3ds MaxA few days ago I was wondering how could I add sound to silent animation produced by 3d max. When I was playing around with the curve editor, by chance I found a method to do so. So I would like to share it with you..

1.You don't need 3D model to work with this tutorial. But, in case you want to use 3D model, you can download Classic Rotary Telephone 3D model

2.Now, lets add some sound. Open Track View-Dope Sheet (Graph Editors > Track View-Dope Sheet).

3.Sound option window should have opened now. Click lus (+) sign left of Sound. Highlight and right click Metronome. Choose Properties

Click Choose Sound button. Navigate to Windows > Media folder & choose ringin sound icon & press Open button. Make sure "Active" checkbox is ticked & press 'OK' button to close sound option window.

5.If you press the Play button at the bottom of the screen, now you would hear sound for about 26 frames & then it will stop.

But how to make the sound playing all over the animation? Let's fix this up. Click the edit ranges button on the tool bar and then click and drag one of those white dots to frame 100.

Note: Don't worry if the dots are going a little after frame 100

Close Dope Sheet. Press Play button. The sound plays all over the animation.

The tutorial is now complete. This way we can add a little background sound to our animation. Notice that each frame takes a little longer than usual.when rendering animation with sound. There are only 2 problems with embedding sound in 3ds max:
a.We cannot edit the sound (but we can slide the whole sound to change its starting frame).
b.We can only import sound with WAV and AVI format.

There are a lot of sounds available in your windows installation. For example
browse in folder C:\WINNT\Media. I don't know about other system
operation, but you can always look out at windows folder for sample sound files
